B\u00f8nnen g\u00e5r tilbake til 800-tallet. I \u00e6rb\u00f8dighet og takknemlighet anbefaler vi ham til Guds kj\u00e6rlige miskunn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Veien m\u00e5 vi alle g\u00e5<\/strong>&nbsp;en gang. Det er det eneste sikre i tilv\u00e6relsen. Men en konges bortgang ber\u00f8rer oss s\u00e6rlig. Sammen med dronning Sonja ble han signet i Nidaros domkirke s\u00f8ndag 23. juni 1991 av biskop Finn Wagle. I bakgrunnen (v.s.a. Dronningen) ses ogs\u00e5 biskop Andreas Aarflot.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>P\u00e5 forbilledlig vis&nbsp;<\/strong>har Kong Harald inkarnert nasjonen. Vi har visst oss sett, kjent og verdsatt av ham. Vi har v\u00e6rt oss bevisst hans omsorg, omsluttet av varmen han utstr\u00e5lte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Han gav oss et storartet eksempel<\/strong>&nbsp;p\u00e5 hengivenhet. Han&nbsp;<em>var&nbsp;<\/em>s\u00e5 helt og holdent konge, hengitt folket, at der liksom ikke stod noe ego i veien. Slik kom han oss velgj\u00f8rende n\u00e6r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Vi, norske katolikker, ber&nbsp;<\/strong>hengivent for ham. Vi ber for Hennes Majestet Dronningen og for hele kongefamilien. Monarkiet st\u00e5r som en stabil akse i samfunnet. Det st\u00e5r for selvf\u00f8lgelig kontinuitet. I en tid s\u00e5 usikker som v\u00e5r, gj\u00f8r det godt. Kong Harald har, sammen med Dronning Sonja, bragt en s\u00e6regen st\u00f8dighet til Norge. Kongen har v\u00e6rt et selvf\u00f8lgelig referansepunkt i b\u00e5de sorg og glede, alltid med verdighet. Klokt har han talt til oss, med en underfundig humor vi vil savne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Gud sign v\u00e5r konge god!<br>Sign ham med kraft og mot,<br>sign hjem og slott!<br>Lys for ham ved din \u00c5nd,<br>knytt med din sterke h\u00e5nd<br>hellige troskapsb\u00e5nd<br>om folk og drott!<\/em> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Kongesangen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>N\u00e5 vil vi omslutte Kong H\u00e5kon&nbsp;<\/strong>lojalt,s\u00e5 arven kan f\u00f8res videre, n\u00e6ret av den&nbsp;<em>tillit&nbsp;<\/em>som her til lands i generasjoner har kjennetegnet forholdet \u00abmellom folk og drott\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>B\u00f8nnen ved d\u00f8dsleiet ender<\/strong>&nbsp;med \u00e5 uttrykke et fast, lysende h\u00e5p: \u00abI dag skal du i fred finne din bolig, ditt hjem skal v\u00e6re hos Gud\u00bb. The prayer, from the ninth century, begins like this: \u2018Go forth, Christian soul, from this world, in the name of God the Father almighty, who created you; in the name of Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, who suffered for you; in the name of the Holy Spirit, who was poured forth on you\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prayer reminds us that physical death is a passage from life to Life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Today our beloved king,<\/strong>&nbsp;Harald V,has made this passage. With reverence and gratitude we commend him to God\u2019s loving mercy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>All of us must make this passage&nbsp;<\/strong>one day. That is our life\u2019s only certainty. Still, the passing of a king affects us uniquely. We suddenly feel orphaned, surrounded by a resounding absence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In an exemplary manner,&nbsp;<\/strong>King Harald embodied the nation. We were aware that he saw us, knew us, valued us. We knew his care, were embraced by the warmth he exuded.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>He gave us a magnificent example<\/strong>&nbsp;of dedication. He&nbsp;<em>was<\/em>&nbsp;so entirely our king, given to his people, that no ego seemed to stand in the way. That brought him near to us in a wholly beneficent way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We, the Catholics of Norway,&nbsp;<\/strong>pray devotedly for him.We pray for Her Majesty the Queen and for the royal family. Not least we pray for King H\u00e5kon VIII, that God may grant him wisdom and choice blessings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The old acclamation,<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2018The King is dead, long live the King!\u2019, stirs us today. The monarchy represents a stable axis in society. It stands for self-evident continuity. In our uncertain times, that is comforting. King Harald has, with Queen Sonja, brought a unique kind of stability to Norway. Ever dignified, the king has been a natural point of reference in both grief and gladness. He has spoken wisely to us, with a kind, quirky humour we shall miss. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We will now stand loyally by King H\u00e5kon,<\/strong>&nbsp;that the heritage may continue, nurtured by the&nbsp;<em>trust&nbsp;<\/em>that has for ages bound the people and its sovereign together in this country. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The deathbed prayer culminates&nbsp;<\/strong>in an expression of firm, luminous hope: \u2018May your place today be in peace, your dwelling with God\u2019.
